About the Author
Antony Cummins is the author of Conversations with an Assassin, The Illustrated Guide to Viking Martial Arts, To Stand on a Stone, and True Path of the Ninja. He is a martial arts teacher and a specialist on the ninjutsu manuals of Japan, and has released several DVDs as well as working as a host in the documentary The Ninja: Shadow Warriors.

Another good historical look

I've read other books by this author and as usual his research is there to see. The fact that it's not just a standard "ninja" book that shows you the weapons and such is refreshing, reading about the tools and weapons is great but reading about the history behind these things and the ninja themselves is a real treat.

Honestly Researched.

The book reads like a thesis paper. The language is dry but not particularly difficult. However, the information is exciting! The book is also very honest about which information is reliable and tries to dry it's conclusions from multiple sources. Hence four stars...maybe five if you want something factual and don't mind dry.

Informative, straightforward, and in-depth.

"In Search Of The Ninja" by Antony Cummins is an organized work. This book has many layers and subsections which compliment one another quite well. I personally own every Shinobi related book Antony has released. Whether you have some previous understanding or even misunderstanding of what Shinobi are you will be satisfied with this book. After each of Antony's previous books such as: Shinobi Soldiers I & II, I felt more and more knowledgeable, yet never truly satisfied with the way the information was being presented. It seemed like there was a back and forth explanation which seized to clarify or dispels myths, making it seem as if you are reading a book dedicated to speculation. After "True Path" was released,I felt a little more accepting with the scattered bits of information. In this particular book there is no more confusion, it is all here! Finally Anthony has broke that boundary between inane and wearisome. The pages are organized with data and pictures accordingly. There are times when the book seems to veer of course, but nonetheless regains its primary focus. If you want to learn about the beliefs, missions, and history of "Ninja", then I would recommend this book. The hardcover and fitting design, along with the sourced information adds a higher sense of quality compares to previous books. I still think it would be nice for a textbook containing EVERYTHING.

Gr 8 Up-Fourteen-year-old Sophie rescues Otto, a young chimp, while spending the summer at her mother's bonobo sanctuary in the Democratic Republic of Congo. When the president is assassinated and war breaks out, Sophie has a chance to return home to the United States but cannot bear to leave Otto. Their journey to safety takes them into the bonobo enclosure, but the real danger begins when they venture out and risk encountering rebel soldiers. Schrefer excels at imbuing the bonobos with individual personalities and endearing quirks. The bond between Sophie and Otto is so expertly depicted that it almost seems like a parent/child relationship, and readers will readily relate to the anguish the girl feels as she debates leaving her pet behind. The novel tackles tough ethical dilemmas without offering easy answers and delves into racial politics (Sophie's mixed racial heritage influences how others treat her), giving the book a nuanced tone. Schrefer portrays painful scenes in unflinching detail, and his powerful use of language drives the story forward. However, Sophie often seems preternaturally skilled for a teenager who has spent limited time in the Congo. Several moments stretch plausibility, such as when she rescues Otto from a group of soldiers or when she becomes leader of the bonobo tribe. Additionally, because Sophie is recounting the story as an adult looking back, her voice is often far more mature and polished than most adolescent protagonists. About the Author
I live in Leicester, in the UK. Up until Christmas 2015, I was a full-time teacher, but now I'm a full-time writer, taking a few months away from teaching to focus on finishing the You Don't Know Me trilogy. I've been writing since I was about thirteen, trying out different genres for size. In 2014, after reading a few more of my favourite genre, erotic romance, I came up with the idea for You Don't Know Me. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it. I've got plenty of ideas for more erotic romances in the future!

Well written book with some twists in its story.

I adore this book. I really like the writing, it has a good flow.

The Story:
Maya, a young artist that hasn’t painted in the last few years, has to take on a job as a secretary in a construction company to pay her bills.
As soon as her boss lays his eyes on her, he's determined to get her into his bed and even though Maya tries her best to shake him off, there is no chance for him to let her go as soon as he takes a hold on her. With each day Maya spends with Daniel, her feelings grow for him and as her heart begins to play a part in it, she notices that she doesn't even know this guy. How can she even have feelings for someone she doesn’t know? Maya has to decide if she can trust Daniel and if she wants to be pulled into his dark and mysterious life.

Thoughts:
I love this book, especially because after some first similarities to FSOG and Crossfire it turned into something of its own. I wouldn’t say that it’s bad to start a story that’s similar to other books because you kind of know beforehand what sort of story this probably is and the best stories are those that turn into something of their own, just like this one.
So this is a book I recommend to readers who enjoyed FSOG and Crossfire.
I see similarities of books like a road. It’s like traveling on the same road but on another lane and then there is an exit and you take it onto another street. Sometimes the street is not far off from the one before and sometimes it goes in a complete different direction.

The ending:
At first everything in this story moved too fast for my liking but at the end everything made much more sense to me.
And then I was like WTF? Noo! Don’t leave a reader like me hanging like this!! I need to know how it continues!
Oh gosh. I knew something was up but I did not see this coming until almost at the end of the book. I’m so curious about how they will go on after everything that happened and that’s revealed.

I liked YDKM. I felt that Maya and Dan were ...

I liked YDKM. I felt that Maya and Dan were both hiding things from each other for most of the book and I found myself screaming a few times at them both. Maya lands a new job and the owner Dan Foster is hot AF. He definitely runs hot and cold and that was quite frustrating throughout. To me some of the BDSM book type references were tongue in cheek and made me chuckle while I don't think other reviewers took it that way. Maya does get to see a side of Dan nobody else does but that feeling of him holding on to a secret is always there. When it's revealed I thought it was unique and hadn't been done in any other book I've read. I am interested to see where things go in book two.

Fun and Sexy! A must have in your beach tote this summer!

This was a very entertaining erotic romance. Maya is very likable. She is smart, funny, and quirky. Daniel is what romance readers would want him to be. He is attractive (smoking-hot-attractive) and full of himself. And don’t women just love to break down those walls and bring such a powerful Alpha to his knees? The chemistry between these two is apparent from the first moment they meet each other in the boardroom. The way they look at each other and the unspoken language between them raises the heat.
The witty dialogue makes this a very fun read. The backstory for each character adds intrigue. The sex scenes were tastefully done with the perfect amount of naughtiness to make them hot and steamy. I definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for a fun and sexy romance!

About the Author

Jorge L. Ali�, MD, PhD, is Professor and Chairman of Ophthalmology and Medical Director of the Alicante Institute of Ophthalmology at the University of Miguel Hern�ndez, Alicante, Spain. He is also founder of the VISSUM Corporation, comprising 40 clinics in Spain and founder of the Jorge Ali� Foundation for the Prevention of Blindness. Dr. Ali� has conducted extensive research work in various areas of ophthalmology and has been the Director of 63 doctoral theses. He has authored almost 450 original articles in indexed peer review journals as well as more than 240 book chapters. He is the author, editor or co-editor of 77 books and has given almost 1400 presentations at international scientific congresses. The Hirsch factor (h-factor) of Dr Alio is 43 (Scopus). He has received 75 awards for clinical and research work, 32 of them at an international level. He was co-founder of the International Ocular Inflammation Society and its Chairman until 1998 and then Secretary to the present day. He has served on the editorial boards of many journals, including the Journal of Refractive Surgery, Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, European Journal of Ophthalmology and British Journal of Ophthalmology. In November 2012, Dr. Ali� received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the ISRS/AAO Congress in Chicago.

Joseph Pikkel, MD, is Chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology at Sieff Hospital, Safed, Israel, a senior lecturer and the head of ophthalmology in the Bar-Ilan faculty of medicine. Since 2009 he has also been a lecturer at Technion – Rappaport Faculty of Medicine, Haifa, Israel. It was from this faculty that he graduated in 1991, subsequently serving a residency in the Department of Ophthalmology at RAMBAM Medical Center, Haifa, Israel and a fellowship at Sydney Eye Hospital in Australia. In 1997 he returned to Israel, as a Consultant at the Hillel Yaffe Medical Center, Hadera, where he performed about 2500 operations and as Medical Director at the “Roim 6/6” institute, where he performed some 5000 refractive surgeries. Dr. Pikkel’s research interests lie in diseases of the vitreous and retina, vitreoretinal surgery and glaucoma. He is a member of the Israeli Council of Ophthalmologists and of the Examination Comity of the Israeli Board of Ophthalmologists. In 2004 he was made an honorary citizen of the cities of Iakucho and Suyana in Peru, where he served as Head of the Israeli Save Sight Delegation, for contributions to citizens’ welfare while operating in local hospitals. He was also operating in save sight delegations in Angola, Congo, Ecuador and Guyana. Dr. Pikkel has authored more than 40 publications in national and international journals.

Great Book for History Buffs and Classroom Discussions!

This title could not be passed by. It's so intriguing and it is is written by Avi. I had to read it.

What I didn't know was that it was going to open my eyes to 1950s New York during the Red Scare when Americans were suspicious of others being Communists. Granted, I knew of that time but never have I read a historical fiction based on it. Avi convinces the reader that they are actually living during that intense time. Pete, the narrator and "traitor" is a humorous but sincere 7th grader who is caught in the midst of the Red Scare when his dad is accused of being a Communist. He must do some detective work to figure out who to trust and discover the real mystery: Is his dad a Communist?

This is not only a great historical read but also a book that deals with sibling relationships, paranoia and trust, baseball(Giants or Dodgers fans, anyone?), freedom, and believing in yourself despite what other people say. There are some heartbreaking moments that made me realize how difficult life truly was during the Depression and what some families did in order to survive.

I recommend for classrooms discussions and history buffs. This would be a great book for boys who are reluctant readers as it is full of baseball facts and sleuthing that may encourage them to read!

A who-done-it that will keep your guessing

Avi authored this book and it is for ages 8-12, (grades 3-7). It is an historical fiction for youth and includes family, loyalty, bullying, friendship, individual rights and freedom. The events in the novel were inspired by Avi's own childhood experiences with radical left-wing politics and the events of the Red Scare.

It is set is 1951 and twelve-year-old Peter Collison has his life not only turned upside down, but inside out. He is just a regular kid living in Brooklyn, New York. He adores reading Sam Spade, mystery comics and listening to radio serials with his family. Crime dramas are his thing and he loves to imagine that he is the lead detective who solves the crime.

One day an FBI agent mysteriously shows up at his door and starts asking probing questions ... Peter finds himself actually living out his dream of being the lead detective. Because of rumours and suspicions that are flying, his classmates ditch him, even his best friend Kit. This is a perfect book to use as a catalyst to start conversations with students in classrooms and with family members around the dinner table about news like the NSA's surveillance of private citizens or how to balance personal freedom with society's larger protections. Readers and especially educators will find real relevance in "Catch You, Later, Traitor." I love the book and had to keep on reading just to see how everything would be resolved....I wasn't disappointed, it is a real page turner indeed. I highly recommend this book.

An Absorbing Middle-School Thriller!

"Catch You Later, Traitor" is an absorbing fast-paced, historically-based mystery that begins in Brooklyn, New York in 1951 at PS 10 when twelve-year-old Pete Collison's teacher Ricky Donavan starts mistreating him in class after spreading a rumor that his parents are Communists. As Pete is ostracized by his classmates, ignored by his best friend, and begins receiving bad grades, he wonders if there is any truth to his teacher's allegations especially when he's followed by an FBI agent. Loving Sam Spade detective novels and listening to radio crime dramas, Pete uses his sleuthing skills to investigate his father's past, hoping to uncover the identity of the informer who reported his family.

The author sets the stage for this fascinating plot in the paranoia of 1950's America where the McCarran Act gave the government license to hunt down those listed as subversives. Not only do those unjustly indicted face prison sentences if they don't provide names of other Communists, but in a national emergency could be incarcerated in prison camps. In this atmosphere of mistrust Pete's father is being investigated by the FBI and the repercussions of that scrutiny has spilled over into the lives of his sons.

Slowly as events unfold the author builds emotional intensity and suspense as Pete begins his own search for clues to the mystery of his father's past which he hopes will uncover the identity of the informer he suspects could be a family member. As Pete gets closer to the truth his fear mounts as the FBI's intimidation grows. In a plot that vibrates with mysterious clues - a missing grandfather, an undisclosed uncle and unknown names on the back of a picture - there are splashes of humour like Pete's defiance as a Giants fan, and in his clandestine meetings with his best friend Kat. I even loved the insertions in italics, bits of the story that read like excerpts from a detective novel.

In a plot that sparks with drama, excitement and emotional power, the characters are well-developed, realistic and unforgettable as the Collison family grapples with a nightmare that could put their security and freedom at risk. Pete Collison like his hero Sam Spade is calm, watchful and wary as he collects the facts, although his mounting paranoia is making him question the loyalty and trustworthiness of friends and family members. Yet for all his bravado and toughness in dealing with his troubles at school, he feels isolated and alone; sensitive to guilt by association. His brother Bobbie a smart high school student is intense and self-absorbed, willing to barter information to get what he wants. Their father Dennis Collison a history professor is a mild-mannered man of integrity who refuses to undermine his values while their mother is supportive and protective, loyal to her husband. Katherine Bayer Pete's best friend is steadfast and devoted, even as she's plagued by the impact of a broken home.

Of the antagonists who add a chill to this unique look at the Communist Scare; Special Agent Tom Ewing is spineless and weak in his intimidation of a child to get the information he wants; Pete's teacher Ricky Donavan, a narrow-minded bully and Chris Collison a weak, manipulative and abusive uncle.

" Catch You Later, Traitor" is a powerful look at the rights and freedoms of individuals in a period marred by fear and uncertainty. I highly recommend it and intend to read other books by this gifted author.
